The Vice-Chancellor of Nagpur University, Dr. Vilas S. Sapkal has indicated that the University is not willing to add new colleges now on-wards. Nagpur University has over 800 colleges affiliated to it.
"I’m not in favour of new colleges for next few years for better efficiency and functioning. The university had to act as per perspective plan. Some 177 colleges were transferred to Gondwana University which had significantly reduced the workload. This year, hardly 30 new were approved. We have to revise the perspctive plan to stop more colleges," he asserted reports Times of India.
He announced they had prepared a 'master plan' for NU. "As NU has become 90-year-old, an audit of its entire land will be conducted. Our team is visiting NU departments daily for understanding their problems. We also wish to take alumni's for building infrastructure," he said.
