Brands like to associate with sports as well as its players as it gives a big boost to the product sale. Brands sponsor T shirts, Kits etc so that they capture a big & mature market. They associate with players & make them Brand Ambassadors for a particular product so that people associate their product with a particular person.

Nagpur royals try to save last of family’s treasure

NAGPUR: It may be a little too late in the day. But the scions of the Nagpur’s erstwhile royal Bhonsle family have joined hands to save the last of the family’s heirlooms and treasure from going under the hammer on June 17.

Burying the hatchet over the property in possession of the court of wards here, the Sr. Bhonsle family’s legal heirs are making a last-ditch effort to regain it by paying its market price to clear off the accumulated tax.

NMC eyes carbon credit market

NAGPUR: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) seems to be eyeing the clean air business to rake in funds.

Lately, the civic body has drawn up plans to tap the carbon credit market by taking a slew of eco-friendly measures and generate carbon emission reduction (CER) units, which are tradable in the international market.

Officiating municipal commissioner Atul Patne had recently said that generating funds through carbon credit business can also lead to sustainable urban development.

Full meals for NMC students soon

NAGPUR: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation will become first civic body in State that has decided to provide full meal to standard I to VIII students studying in corporation schools.

Civic body's standing committee, in a meeting on Saturday, passed the ambitious proposal for providing complete meal comprising chapatti, vegetable, dal, rice and salads to corporation school students.

Women on top in HSC results

NAGPUR: Carrying on a tradition that has emerged over the last few years, girls yet again outshone boys in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination, the results of which were announced by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on Saturday.

The girls performed better than the boys not only in the eight divisions of the state board, but also topped the charts in a majority of divisions. A whopping 89.96% girls passed the examination as compared to 85.42% boys.

Air Force conducts hot weather trials of Tejas combat aircrafts

NEWS DELHI: The Light Combat Aircraft 'Tejas' underwent hot weather flight trials at Air Force Station, Nagpur recently. The trials were planned at Nagpur because of the high ambient temperature conditions prevailing there during this period.

Nagpur man 'ordered' to bomb Sansad

Shocked at the instructions thrown at him by an unknown voice, Mishra immediately informed the police which swung into action. The number that flashed on the mobile was registered in the Gulf region.

Merc approves average tariff hike of 6.76 p.c.

PUNE: The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (Merc) on Monday approved an average 6.76 per cent tariff hike for electricity for the year 2008-09. Domestic consumers with monthly consumption of 300 units will have to bear only a marginal increase.

The new tariff rates have come into effect from June 1.

Civic body 1st to promote blood donation via SMS

NAGPUR: Nagpur Municipal Corporation has become the first civic body in the country to help people who need blood. All one needs to do is send an SMS mentioning the required blood group to 56677 (NMC's number) and the mobile numbers and names of donors will be messaged to you in less than a minute.

Along with this unique service, the NMC has also designed and developed its own website ‘www.cityhealthline.org' for providing comprehensive information about various health programmes to the citizens.

Bilaspur-Pune weekly superfast express from July 3

Nagpur(PTI): A new weekly superfast express train is being introduced between Bilaspur-Pune-Bilaspur from July 3 for the benefit of passengers travelling on this route.

The 2849 Bilaspur-Pune train will depart every Thursday at 1130 hrs and reach Nagpur at 1820 hrs and leave at 1835 hrs to reach Pune next day morning at 0945 hrs via Badnera (arr 2130 hrs dep 2133 hrs), Akola (arr 2225 hrs dep 2230 hrs), Ahmednagar(arr 0610 hrs dep 0613 hrs), down (arr 0800 hrs dep 0815 hrs) and Pune arrival at 0945 hrs, a release from central railway said.
