50,000 students to get free computer edu

NAGPUR: Over 50,000 students from standard I to XII of Nagpur Municipal Corporation

schools, now have a reason to cheer - they will get free
computer education soon.

The NMC has planned to rope in education and learning solutions provider Everonn Systems India and Computer Business Management (CBM) for imparting computer education in schools. The proposal will be put up before standing committee meeting on October 24 for approval.

On Tuesday, railways announced a special train 869/870 Mumbai-Howrah-Mumbai to clear rush of passengers during Diwali vacation. The 870 (Howrah-Mumbai) was to operate on October 22, 26 and 29, and November 2 and 5. Similarly, 869 (Mumbai-Howrah) was to operate on October 24, 28 and 31, and November 4 and 7.

Nagpur civic school students will no more be burdened

NAGPUR: The burden is off the kids’ back. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has relieved about 18,000 primary school students of the weight they carry in their bags by providing them with lockers. They can now safely deposit their books in their schools.

With this move, which has been praised by educationists here, the NMC has become the first corporation in the state to relieve the children from carrying weighty school bags on their tender shoulders.

Govt provides internet connectivity in Nagpur schools

Nagpur: Under a project started by the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry, the state education department has provided internet connections to all schools in the Nagpur division.

Govind Nandede, Deputy Director (Education), Nagpur division said, "The department has directed schools to provide internet accessibility to students of Class VIII, IX and X. Schools have been guided to ensure that students are acquainted with internet browsing, using search engines and blogging before net connectivity is provided".

Wife gets dole from Australian govt, hubby fights battle in court

NAGPUR: An Australian citizen, who hails from Nagpur, is fighting a court battle here to

clear his name of criminal charges filed by his
wife, whom he has divorced through an
Australian court.

Mohit Yadam's wife had approached the Australian police authorities and preferred proceedings under a procedure commonly known as apprehended violence order (AVO). As a result, she was receiving social security from the Australian Government - Australian $875.20 (equal Rs 30,632) per month. However, AVO proceedings were dismissed later by the Australian court for lack of evidence.
