Farmers loan worth Rs 144 crore waived in Nagpur district

NAGPUR: The crop loan of 67,330 farmers to the tune of Rs 144 crores have been waived off in Nagpur district and fresh crop loans of Rs 55 crores have been disbursed through banks, Collector Praveen Darade said today.

The farmers in the loan waiver scheme include small and marginal farmers having agriculture land up to five acres. The loan waiver scheme was as per the decision of the Centre and the list of beneficiaries of loan waiver would be put up before the bank and tahsil offices, an official release said .

There were 43,354 farmers in the category of five and below five acres land holding whose loan was valued at Rs 95.52 crores. Those having five acres and more include 23,976 farmers whose crop loan estimated at Rs 48.45 crores were benefited under the scheme.

Nagpur district central co-operative bank had major share with Rs 103.99 crores, it said.
This year the authorities were expecting disbursement of crop loan worth Rs 400 crores and out of which Rs 55 crores have been already distributed among farmers, release added.
