Ramtek is famous for its Temple dedicated to Lord Ram. According to locals, Ram rested for while at this place.

The temple was built by the King of Nagpur Raghuji Bhonsale, after victory over fort of Deogarh in Chindwara.

Kalidasa has written Meghdootum in hills of Ramtek. In remeberance, Kalidas Smarak has been built near the temple.
