CHANDIGARH: Taking a leaf out of National Building Code, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has decided to remove the cap on height of buildings for group housing and commercial colonies. It has also decided to allow four level basements in group housing, integrated and multi-storeyed commercial buildings and IT parks and cyber cities.
HUDA chief administrator TC Gupta said on Wednesday that policies on both these issues have been framed.
In case of commercial complexes, this provision would be applicable only on sites which are governed by zoning plans. For institutional sites, it would apply on plots with an area of one acre and above. In case of buildings with a height of 30 meters and above, clearance would be required from the National Airport Authority of India.
For 60-metre and above buildings, the nod for structural stability will have to come from institutions like IITs, PEC, REC and National Institute of Technology; for fire safety, it would need approval from the Institute of Fire Engineers, Nagpur.
