NAGPUR: The Mumbai crime branch, which recently arrested a few persons who were allegedly part of Indian Mujhahideen's terror module, had recently
conducted an operation in Yavatmal in search of a vital link of their investigation. It is learnt that a suspect has been rounded up but officers are tightlipped and no official source is willing to confirm it.
The team, which has so far arrested 20 persons from Pune, Mangalore and Uttar Pradesh, has recently made a trip to Govindnagar area of Pussad in Yavatmal district.
Well-placed sources informed that one 'Iqbal' has been taken to Mumbai for questioning. They claim that 'Iqbal' was also close to the three arrested techies from Pune and their driver. Recently the Mumbai cops has nabbed Mohammed Mansoor Asgar Peerbhoy, principal software engineer with internet giant Yahoo, Mubin Kader Shaikh alias Salman, a senior technical support advisor in the corporate sector, and Asif Bashir Shaikh, employed as a mechanical engineer in a private firm.
'Iqbal' had moved to Pussad to spend time with his family. The cops have learnt that he used to make at least a couple of trips to Pussad every year. 'Iqbal' too works in the corporate sector and is supposed to be equally adept in computer skills.
Local police are keeping a watch on several others too. Recently, Nagpur anti-terrorist squad had arrested Mohammed Khaleel Mohammed Ismail Chauhan, in his 30s, for his role in the activities of Students Islamic Movement of India at Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh.
