India amends Australia's test series schedule

NEW DELHI (AP) - India's cricket board has changed the schedule of two test matches against Australia to avert a clash with a popular religious festival.
Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah said in a statement Monday that two matches of this year's four-test series had been pushed back by a day
so that the third test in New Delhi does not clash with Diwali, the most important Hindu festival.
«The third test was originally scheduled to begin on Oct. 28, which is when Diwali will be celebrated all over the country,» Shah said.

With the third test now starting Oct. 29, the fourth test was also put back a day in Nagpur and will now start Nov. 6.
The first two tests are in Bangalore, starting Oct. 9, and Mohali, starting Oct. 17.
