Maharashtra hotels ‘sweat it out’

By Dheera Majumder | Mumbai

With acute power shortage affecting Maharashtra, hotels across the state are being burdened with severe load shedding. This is taking a toll on on the hotels’ internal accruals. Hotels in business destinations like Aurangabad, Pune and Nagpur experience power cuts for about four to five hours. Hotels in Ahmednagar, Akola and Amravati, as well as leisure locations like Lonavala, Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar face load shedding for up to eight hours everyday.

“When people come down to Panchgani, they expect to have basic amenities like water and power. The present amount of load shedding is causing severe inconvenience to the guests,” says Shahram Javanmardi, Owner, Hotel Prospect, Panchgani.
