Meteorological department predicts rains in the coming days

Nagpurians got a big relief from the drop in winter temperature after 14th January i.e Makar Sankranti. The nights got less colder and there was a sigh of relief from chilling cold weather which made nagpurians stay indoors during night. The afternoon temperature has risen considerably now and very few people will be seen with sweaters and shawls.

44 kgs plastic bags less than 50 microns seized at Nagpur

Usage of plastic bags less than 50 microns has been banned all over India. The government has requested shopkeepers and the general public to use jute bags or cloth bags instead of plastic bags. This initiative has been done to save our planet earth from polluting. The shopkeepers or local vegetable sellers keep plenty of plastic bags which are less than 50 microns as they are cheap and can help carry the sold vegetables.

Chilling January 2013 and wait for Summers

The new year started on a happy note with new dreams and goals. The city temperature is giving nagpurians goosebumps as it is getting colder and colder. A city known for warmest summers all over India will now be known for cold winters too. School going children find it very difficult to wake up in the morning due to dip in morning temperature.

Blind faith leads to killing of four year old at Nagpur

Nagpurians beware. Have faith but do not blindly follow someone. Blind faith on a baba by a mother of 4 year year old daughter led to her killing. It is a very shameful incident which took place in Nagpur. Mother killed her own daughter to bring prosperity to her home by stabbing her on the chest 21 times.

Nagpurians be prepared for 5 to 6 Hours of load shedding

It has not been more than 2 years since load shedding ended. We all were happy that at last Nagpur city will not face load shedding. Though it houses many power plants but still it faces hardships of load shedding the reason given by MSEDCL and Spanco is losses. Is there no loss of power when the power gets distributed from Nagpur to the adjoining cities. Is it below permissible limits at they make their own limits and take their own decisions. Power is the basic necessity after food, clothing and shelter. How can we all get deprived of power because of losses above certain limits.

Duronto to run daily from Nagpur to Mumbai from end of June 2012

Duronto which used to run thrice a week will be converted into a daily train. It is good news for Nagpurians as there was always a long waiting list in trains like sevagram and Vidarbha. Many people adopted other means of conveyance in the absence of confirmed ticket in trains.

Nagpur will soon be a clean train station where standardized methods will be used for cleaning trains. Water coolers have been installed at the railway stations which has been donated by NGO's. It will be maintained by Railways.

Decision to run Duronto daily will sure bring smiles to all Nagpurians.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation to take action against illegal construction in the city

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is geared up to take stern measures against all illegal and unauthorized constructions in the city along with old and weak buildings. After inspection of the building, notice will be issued to the owners and they will have to pull down the unauthorized structure within a time period. If the person does not follows the rules he will be fined and imprisoned. This is being done for safety of nagpurians so that no more death occurs due to collapse of weak buildings.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation to construct 200 more bus shelters in the city

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is working very hard to make the conveyance system in the city good by constructing more bus shelters, where the passengers waiting for bus can take rest and sit comfortably. Now 190 bus shelters are fully operational in the city. The new shelters will be constructed on roads which lacks them or where two shelters have a gap of more than 500 meters. According to norms there should be a bus shelter every 200- 500 meters of road length.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation preparing for the monsoon

NMC (Nagpur Municipal Corporation) is in the process of cleaning all nullahs to avoid water blockage during the monsoon season. Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal is himself monitoring the work so that all nullahs are cleaned before the onset of monsoons. But the problem is Nagpur Municipal Corporation has forgot dug roads.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation fined people for Spitting and Littering at public places

In a move to keep the city clean and green Nagpur Municipal Corporation has fined 70 people for spitting and littering at public places. Many people have the bad habit of spitting here and there after eating Paan or Gutka. Sometimes these spits fall on other people and cause inconvenience to others. It is a very unhealthy habit to throw anything on the road. People have the habit of throwing potato chips packet, packaged drinking water bottles and biscuits packet on the road after consumption.
