National Environment Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur is organizing International workshop on Mitigating effects of Geogenic Contaminants.

Objectives :
- Deliberate on recent findings indicating an increased geographical extent of geogenic contaminants particularly Fluoride, iron, selenium etc

- Discuss possible health impacts of geogenic contaminants and identify stress parameters
- Devise strategy for implementing approaches such as Quantitative Chemical Risk Assessment (QCRA) and health based targets
- Identify Technological interventions to minimize geogenic contaminants

National Environment Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur is organizing interactive workshop on Economic Development and Atmospheric Pollution.

The workshop attempts to focus on
- What are the current and projected trends in Indian mega-cities with respect to greenhouse gas emissions, ground-level ozone pollution, energy use, sulfur dioxide aerosols, and population in the next 20, 50 and 100 years?
- Should air pollution and climate change be treated as separate issues?
- How much of a risk does air pollution currently pose to human health in India?

Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) to recycle sewage water

Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) to recycle sewage water

PDKV has decided to set up a plant for treatment of sewage water passing through Nullah of MaharajBagh zoo and help the zoo authorities in solving their water problem. The water treatment unit will be installed with the help of NEERI and will start working from 26th January 2012.

Due to collapse of the old system for procuring water the zoo authorities were helpless but with the installation of recycle plant they will be able to meet their daily water demands at zoo premises.

National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), will be hosting the 3 day workshop "International workshop on Mitigating effects of Geogenic Contaminants" with support from UNICEF, WHO and International Water Association (IWA).

The event will be held from January 17, 2012 till January 20, 2012
