BJP flays UPA on price rise, 'Aam admi' deceived
Nagpur: BJP on Tuesday lashed the UPA government on the rising prices of essential commodities and alleged that the Congress-led government has deceived and cheated the 'aam admi' (comman man).
"BJP is unable to understand why the UPA government was able to contain prices with an Economist Prime Minister in Dr Manmohan Singh," BJP national spokesman, Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here today.
Strongly criticising the Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar for his comments that he is not an astrologer, Prasad said, he should refrain from making such irresponsible statements.
Prime Minister, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Pawar should address the issue and answer the nation how it has failed on price rise on essential.
Prasad, a former Minister in Vajpayee government said during the NDA regime, the prices were stable for six years barring the rise of onion prices which led to fall of the BJP-led Delhi state government.
On separate Vidarbha, Prasad said surprisingly the Congress was maintaining a stony silence on Telangana issue. Congress has totally failed to manage the aspirations of the people of regions wanting statehood.
To a question, he said when the process for creation of Vidarbha begins, BJP will try to convince its over two-decade-old ally Shiv Sena.
BJP succeeded in convincing Mulayam Singh Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav and JD-U leadership during creations of smaller states.
Congress should pursue a sincere approach towards carving out Vidarbha and should show some generosity, he felt.
