The Central Railway is in the process of installing an integrated security system at Nagpur Railway station that will detect the faces of "wanted criminals", and send an alerts to security personnels at platforms "A modern integrated security system is being set up at the Nagpur station which will have a software to detect the criminals entering the premises immediately and help the security personnel to act quickly," Divisional Railway Manager of Central Railway, Nagpur Division, Brijesh Dixit told reporters

The Vice-Chancellor of Nagpur University, Dr. Vilas S. Sapkal has indicated that the University is not willing to add new colleges now on-wards. Nagpur University has over 800 colleges affiliated to it. "I’m not in favour of new colleges for next few years for better efficiency and functioning. The university had to act as per perspective plan. Some 177 colleges were transferred to Gondwana University which had significantly reduced the workload. This year, hardly 30 new were approved. We have to revise the perspctive plan to stop more colleges," he asserted reports Times of India.

Nagpur's Steam locomotive which once ran on Pulgaon-Arvi section, has been brought back to Nagpur railway station. The Heritage steam locomotive was built in 1954 by Nasmyth Wilson & Co Ltd, England. The engine came to service in 1955. This steam locomotive will be placed at the entrance of Nagpur Railway station. Mr. Subodh Jain , General Manager of Central Railway (CR) will be formally inaugurating it.
