Nagpur: In a shocking disclosure , the Master of Business Administration (MBA) students who have lost their precious academic year due to Nagpur U
niversity's apathy have alleged that university authorities have mislead them which resulted in their loss.
These aggrieved students were initially barred by the university from appearing in the MBA second semester examination citing that they are being 'illegally' admitted . It was only after they moved the high court that they were allowed to appear in the said examination.
However, the university had withheld their results and prohibited them from taking admission to next semester asking them to bring orders from the court. The TOI had highlighted the plight of these distressed MBA students in its September 3 edition.
Now, the students reveal that university authorities have advised them to file a grade petition in the high court for appearing in the examination . The authorities told them that an amendment is proposed in the new ordinance before it will be cleared by the university's management council and students will be getting benefit of it.
The students also claim to have copy of proposed amendments with them wherein it was mentioned that such students will become eligible for the appearing in the examinations. However, when the actual ordinance of 2008 was passed, it reflected another picture and these students were barred from appearing in the examination.
When these dejected students approached same authorities in the university, they were allegedly harassed and shown doors. The authorities told them that "since the court had allowed you to appear in examinations , only it can come to your rescue."
The students, who belong to middle class and poor families , have alleged that they have collectively spent Rs 45,000 in fighting a court battle against the university. Now, they don't have any money left and are running from pillar to post.
When the students met vice-chancellor S N Pathan before ordinance came into effect, he reportedly assured them that their academic year wouldn't get lost. Afterwards , when the students tried to contact the vice-chancellor , they were barred from either meeting or contacting him. Even Pathan himself refused to pick up their calls, the students claimed.
The students are demanding action against the authorities who mislead them to approach the court that resulted in wasting their precious academic year and causing severe mental harassment to their families.
