Nagpur: RSS chief K S Sudarshan welcomed the agreement reached over Amarnath land row which had disturbed the peace in the valley for over last two months.

Sudarshan welcomed the agreement which allows the shrine board to make temporary use of 40 hectares of land in Kashmir during the yatra period, a release issued here said.

Had Jammu and Kashmir government taken this decision earlier, the situation would have been normalised much before, the release said.

MUMBAI: The state BJP on Tuesday demanded a commission of inquiry on the power crisis in the state and asked for a white paper on the curcial issue so that "the citizens will know the truth.''

Speaking to the media, the party's state spokesperson, Madhav Bhandari said that the power minister , Dilip Walse Patil's only contribution in the last nine years as a minister was to close down power plants and to "oversee' ' the increase in transmission losses.

NAGPUR: Cutting across party lines, Maharashtra BJP unit president Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday extended wholehearted support to State Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on his offer to eminent industrialist Ratan Tata to set up his dream project 'Nano' car plant in the state.

"On the issue of development of state, we are all with the government," Gadkari, a former opposition leader in the State Legislative Council, told reporters here today. He said Deshmukh has offered to extend Tata, a red carpet treatment if he decides to shift from Singur in West Bengal.

NAGPUR: Bharatiya Janata Party's member of legislative council Sagar Meghe resigned from the House and the primary membership of the party. Strangely, he handed over both the resignation letters to chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh sending a signal that he was not averse to joining the Congress on the heels of his father, Datta Meghe, who did so 3 days ago.

New Delhi, August 21: VHP leader Pravin Togadia along with Delhi BJP MLAs and hundreds of Sangh Parivar activists courted arrest on Thursday in new Delhi as part of the 'Jail Bharo' agitation demanding transfer of land to the Amarnath shrine.

Over 1,000 activists led by VHP International General Secretary Togadia held a protest in Rajouri Garden in west Delhi this morning, a senior police official said.

Among those who courted arrest were Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi, MLAs O P Babbar, H S Balli and Avtar Singh Hit besides five MCD councillors.

Mumbai: A senior NCP leader of Vidarbha , Datta Meghe was inducted into the Congress on Wednesday at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi.

Along with Meghe, rebel BJP MP also from Vidarbha, Haribhau Rathod, was also scheduled to join the Congress , but his induction has been delayed.

Thousands of agitators in Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Orissa courted arrest to protest the revocation of land allotted to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board in Jammu and Kashmir.

In Delhi, members of the Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti (SASS) on Thursday staged demonstrations and courted arrest. NAGPUR: Former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Datta Meghe is all set to join the Congress on Aug 20, the birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, subject to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's availability to bless his formal entry to the party, his aide said Saturday.

A veteran politician from Vidarbha, Meghe, who recently quit the NCP after denial of yet another Rajya Sabha term following the expiry of his second term last April, left for Delhi Saturday morning to make preparations for the occasion, his aide said.

Nagpur, Aug 13 (IANS) Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists staged road blockades at four prominent intersections in this second capital city of Maharashtra as part of their organisation’s nationwide agitation for re-allotment of land to the Amarnath shrine board in Jammu and Kashmir.

Nearly 500 VHP activists, including women, blocked traffic at Rana Pratap Nagar, Kamal Talkies, Cotton Market and Lakshmi Bhuvan squares by burning tyres and putting up other obstacles in the middle of roads.
