NAGPUR: Vidarbha Rajya Sangram Samiti, the umbrella body of all pro-statehood organisations, would resort to a jail bharo agitation in all villages, towns and cities of Vidarbha on March 23 to press the demand for separate state, said former Lok Sabha member Jambuwantrao Dhote.

He was speaking to mediamen after attending the meeting of the VRSS office-bearers which was attended by former MPCC President Ranjit Deshmukh, Prakash Ambedkar, Jogendra Kawade and others.

Hindutva at heart, Ambedkar on sleeve

It’s a riddle as old as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Dalit agenda. How to play a Dalit card from a pack called Hindutva? BJP president Nitin Gadkari played one recently in Mau, the birthplace of B.R. Ambedkar. He garlanded Dr. Ambedkar’s statue and lunched at a Dalit household, fuelling comparisons with Rahul Gandhi.

However, politically, the BJP has a different set of considerations underlying its token gestures to the Dalits.

Indore: "Zindagi, kaisi yeh paheli hai, kabhi yeh hasaye, kabhi yeh rulaye (Life is a puzzle: just as it gives you reason to smile, it also makes you weep." There possibly could not have been a better song for Nitin Gadkari to choose. He was the performer and the audience was 5,000 delegates of a party that he has been asked to lead.

Ordinary worker can head only a party like BJP: Gadkari

Indore, Feb 18 (PTI) Nitin Gadkari took several jibes at the "dynastic politics" of the Congress today to drive home the point that an ordinary worker can become the chief only in a party like BJP.

"BJP is not a party controlled by a family or a dynasty and this is what distinguishes it from most political parties in India, where the highest office is being treated as birth right of members of a particular dynasty," he told the National Council of the party, which ratified his election.
