When Shakespeare came calling in Nagpur

There was passion, betrayal and a tinge of comedy too. The IMA Hall came alive with all these emotions as an adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Mid Summer Night's Dream, was staged by Vikash Khurana. It was a treat for theatre and Shakespeare lovers too, all of who had come to witness the play.

Long live Shakespeare!
Vikash Khurana, who won accolades for his direction and his adept performance, was a happy man. On asking why he chose Shakespeare's play this time, he said, "Shakespeare is the king of playwrights and his plays have a large mass appeal. Not only plays, but even Hindi filmmakers have also been inspired to make movies like Maqbool, Omkara etc.”

More such plays!
People were seen appreciating the costumes and the elaborate sets. The sheer ambience transported theatre lovers to a bygone era and they were seen savouring every moment of the experience. We caught up with Sayeeda Akolawala who had come to watch the play. Echoing the sentiments of many other theatre buffs, she said, "Vikash has made English theatre popular here, I wish that more plays and Shakespeare’s plays in particular are staged by his group. I’m now waiting to watch Macbeth."
