Artificial water holes in Nagzira Wild Life Sanctuary

Nagzira Wild Life Sanctuary situated in Gondia has installed solar powered water holes to avoid hassles of filling regular water for drinking purpose of animals. The project was implemented by Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA), Pune.


Nagzira Wild Life Sanctuary situated in Gondia has installed solar powered water holes to avoid hassles of filling regular water for drinking purpose of animals. The project was implemented by Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA), Pune.

The water hole is connected to a bore well which has submersible motor which pumps 7000 litres of water daily for consumption of animals. Manual filling of water holes took lot of time and disturbed animals in the area. These artificial water holes operate in the day time and stop at night. They are environment friendly as they do not make sound and does not disturbs animal Fauna.

The area around the artificial water holes get greener due to spilling of excess water from the vessel. This enhances the greenery of the forest.
