Dass Jewellers was born in 1947, in an era that was still dominated by family goldsmiths and ancestral heirlooms. Jewellery in those days was still being designed and discussed in the living rooms of the rich and remodeled in dark dingy goldsmith shops. One had to wait a long time to see the finished piece.
Dass Jewellers heralded a new concept of jewellery showrooms in Nagpur. The designs were on display, it was fascinating to be able to shortlist, try the jewellery and then select. The long wait for the ‘Sonar” was over.
It was established by Mr. Bhagwandas Vastani, a man of very humble means. Having lost both his parents in his youth, he came to Nagpur from Hinganghat to try his luck in business.Starting from selling silver articles on the roadside, he grew to be a formidable name in the jewellery trade of Nagpur.His business principles reflected his nature and philosophy, an affable man with high moral values and a clear vision for success. He started his business in a small rented shop in the main bazaar of Sitabuldi and grew from there.
Mr. Bhagwandas Vastani was ably supported in all his endeavors by his eldest son, Mr. Prakash Vastani.It was the confidence, hard work and business acumen of Prakash Vastani that made Dass Jewellers a household name. The clientele he established has over the years grown into an extended family.He grew the business steadily, never compromising on the quality and purity of the product.Dass Jewellers is thus also a name synonymous with trust and integrity for the last 68 years.
