Maharashtra cabinet on Wednesday approved gave nod to the Sitabuldi – Airport – Butibori Nagpur Metro railway project.
During the 2011 Winter Session in Nagpur, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan announced to support the Metro Rail project in Nagpur. Union Minister Kamal Nath assured that Nagpur will have its Metro soon.
On Wednesday, while approving the Pune Metro Rail, the Maharahstra cabinet also cleared way for Nagpur’s Metro Project. Maharahstra cabinet has asked for detailed report.

In the first phase, the metro will start from Sitabuldi will pass through Airport and end at Mihan. In Second phase Sitabuldi will be connected to Kamptee. The financing would be done by MADC, MIDC, CIDCO, NMC and NIT.
