Maharahstra Government’s department of higher and technical education (H&TE) is planning to offer engineering diploma courses in Marathi language. “All technical terms will be retained in English language and the rest of the curriculum will be translated in Marathi,” H&TE minister Rajesh Tope told reporters.

“All technical terms will be retained in English language and the rest of the curriculum will be translated in Marathi,” H&TE minister Rajesh Tope told reporters.
Tope said, “We have received a concept note related to this plan and a formal proposal will soon be put up before the state cabinet for approval. We will start in phases, starting with the mechanical engineering diploma programme that is being offered by the YIT, and would eventually cover all the diploma courses.”
Tope said, “The government has invested Rs 10 crore in establishing a state-of-the-art skill development center (SDC) at Ambad in Marathwada. The new center will be inaugurated on July 30 and will offer short term as well as diploma courses in three different skills including those for kidney dialysis technicians. The machinery for this new center is already being installed and we also have the curriculum prepared by the local industry partners.”
Accoriding to reports, around 10,000 students are currently pursuing the diploma at seven cities across Maharahstra.
