Nagpur Municipal Corporation fined shopkeepers for using plastic bags less than 50 microns

NMC (Nagpur Municipal Corporation) has fined shopkeepers in Dharampeth area for using plastic bags less than 50 microns in size. Though the government has passed the law but still there are plenty of shopkeepers who use plastic bags which has thickness less than 50 microns. Plastic bags with less thickness clogs drains and nullahs hence leading to overflow of water during the rainy season. NMC is carrying out this drive now to help smooth flow of water in drains and rivers during monsoon.

More such drives will be carried out in other parts of the city where offenders will be fines for Rs 5000 when caught for the first time, Rs 10,000 fine when caught for the second time and Rs 25,000 fine when caught for the third time and can even be imprisoned for 3 months. It if better to stop using plastic bags with less than 50 microns thickness.

People are asked to use less plastic bags and you are charged for the plastic bags so that this reduces environment pollution and saves the animals which die due to choking caused by these plastic bags.
