Promotion Anxiety

Getting a promotion and not happy about it ? Facing sleepless nights ? Remaining restless ? You are probably facing promotion anxiety. Everyone works hard for good performance and to get promotion. There are few whose works gets recognized and their dream comes true. They are happy about it but after sometime feels out of place. They get demoralized and their performance deteriorates. This happens with almost every person leaving a few. There is nothing to worry. We have to take few measures so that we move out of that anxiety and not live in it.

Its true promotion brings with it loads of responsibility & increased work. We have to prepare ourselves to face these challenges. We have to concentrate ourselves on the positive side and leave all negatives behind. For example – when an employee gets promoted from team member to project leader his responsibility increases. He is responsible for the success or failure of the project. He has to make sure every team member works hard so that work gets completed on time. His position demands him to be alert all the time. If he is mentally not prepared he will face problems but if he copes up he is sure to succeed.

There are few measures which can be taken by an employer to relieve his employees of Promotion Anxiety –

1)Give training to employees who are going to be promoted so that he work hard in the new scenario and give good results.

2)He should be made aware of added responsibilities and work.

3)He should be helped by his seniors so that he can understand his work better and does not feels out of place.

4)He should realize that he is fit for the post and should work hard and give good performance. I have seen people who feels that they are not fit for the given post or promotion.

5)He should be made comfortable and 2 to 3 months time period should be given so that he can understand the work better.

6)( For Employers ) Please do not count the failures at the start because the employee is learning. Make sure to call them and let them know what went wrong and what should be done.

7)Correct mistakes of employee and don’t complain to others. At last work should get done.

An employee can overcome anxiety by concentrating on work and not listening to back biters. He can check past work records of the person who was in the same post. How he resolved issues and solved problems. Its very important to understand the work and way of doing it. Plan everything before starting a project. Check all pros and cons of the decision. Over come all fears and work towards the growth of the organization.

Always believe that people who matters to you wants you to be successful. Over come your fears. Be happy about every new happening in life. Remember change is the only constant thing in the world. Move ahead in life. Have a Happy Promotion.
