MOEF decides to dispose off toxic Bhopal gas waste at Pithampur

Union ministry for Environment and Forest (MOEF) has decided to dispose off toxic waste of 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy at Pithampur.

MPPCB will grant permissions to the operator of Pithampur Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility (TSDF) to conduct trial runs of burning waste while Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) will supervise it. If the experiment is successful, MPPCB will grant authorization to TSDF operator for burning the 350 metric tonnes of waste at Union carbide plant at bhopal.

National Highway Authority of Indian (NHAI) Violating Forest Conservation Act ( FCA)

NHAI violates the Forest Conservation Act 1980, in the road widening project on highway number 7 between Mansar and Chorbahuli near Mansinghdeo Wildlife Sanctuary in the district.

The MoEF (ministry of environment and forests) guideline on FCA regarding land involving forests and non- forests land is very clear. It states: “If a project involves forest as well as non-forest land, work should not be started on non-forest land till approval of the central government for release of forest land under the FCA has been given.”
