World Water Day is being celebrated today all over the world. This is becoming important day by day, and specially at time when Maharashtra state is reeling under severe drought. Think-tanks have long been advocating need to educate the common man about responsibly using water, but of little use. Maharashtra state is facing its worst drought ever. Though Nagpur is well placed, but we need to ensure water is utilized properly.

Recently Khanan, the creative Bengali Journal of Vidharbha , organized a Poetry-Eve at Rajaram Sitaram Dixit Library of Dharamoeth, Nagpur on Wednesday, the 6th of February 2013. The meet started with an open inaugural rendering ‘Mayabono Beharinee’ without any instrumental support by budding artiste Ankita Mitra. However, the main attraction of this poetry meet was release of two poem-books. Ranjit Acharya, the Publisher of Khanan greeted the countable size of assembled poem lovers of the city briefing the very attraction of this informal gathering.

To handle the rush between Allahabad and Nagpur route, Central Railways has decided run special trains from Hyderabad to Allahabad via Nagpur. The train will halt at Secunderabad, Jangaon, Kazipeth, Jamikuntha, Peddapalli, Ramgundam, Manchiriyal, Belampalli, Sirpur Kagaznagar, Ballarshah, Nagpur, Itarsi, Pipriya, Narsinghpur, Jabalpur, Katni, Maiher and Satna. Train 07091 Hyderabad–Allahabad special train will leave Hyderabad at 10.30 am on Feb 9, 14 and 24 and arrive Allahabad at 1.30 pm next day.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has submitted detailed project report for the 42 km long metro rail in Nagpur city. Total cost of project will be around 10,000 crore. "Metro rail will take the city's public transport system to a new level. DF government is very keen to make the metro rail a success in the city. The budgetary provisions will play a crucial role as the project requires huge funds," Moghe said. NIT chairman Praveen Darade has indicated that project will start in 2013 itself, if things so smoothly.
