It has not been more than 2 years since load shedding ended. We all were happy that at last Nagpur city will not face load shedding. Though it houses many power plants but still it faces hardships of load shedding the reason given by MSEDCL and Spanco is losses. Is there no loss of power when the power gets distributed from Nagpur to the adjoining cities. Is it below permissible limits at they make their own limits and take their own decisions. Power is the basic necessity after food, clothing and shelter. How can we all get deprived of power because of losses above certain limits.
It really sounds like a nightmare when ever i hear or read about power cuts. I got hold of today’s newspaper early in the morning and the first thing i could read was power cuts from the month of August. Power cuts causes lots of problems especially to offices. You need to install the whole system of battery and UPS to get uninterrupted power or the whole office work gets halted.
Shortage of coal, gas and break down of power plant machinery forced Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to purchase power from other sources at an extra cost. The company has decided to pass on the extra cost burden to its consumers.
MSEDCL is gong hightech. A GPRS system will be installed on camera of meter readers so that they can be tracked whether they have visited a certain locality or not. The reading of photograph will be matched with the meter reading and if they match the reading will be sent to central server which will then generate bill. This will increase the efficiency of work and reduce the time required to generate bills.
Two meter testing laboratories of MSEDCL located at Nagpur and Aurangabad gets National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories ( NABTCL) certification. This will save money spend on testing and transportation of meters.
MSEDCL can now provide meter testing services to other companies at commercial rates.
Orange City Water Limited (OCWL) to take over water work from Nagpur Municipal Corporation from Monday. A lot of NMC workers are not ready to work for OCWL and they have declared Monday as ‘Black Day’.
NMC, Nagpur Environmental Services Ltd (NESL) and OCWL had entered into a agreement on November 17. According to the agreement OCWL will take up entire work of water treatment plants and billing for a span of 25 years. OCWL will also work on 24×7 water supply project. NMC employees have objected to work with OCWL.
Spanco Nagpur Discon Limited ( SNDL ) is a subsidiary of Spanco which is formed to look after power distribution in Nagpur city. MSEDCL signed an agreement between Spanco and SNDL. Spanco Nagpur Discon Limited will handle its own operational and capital expenditure to improve efficiency and supply of electricity to nagpur city.
The move is to supply reliable power to Nagpur city. Spanco Limited will still be answerable for its obligations towards MSEDCL, as per original contract.
It is a great news. MSEDCL is now on facebook. This step is taken to bridge the gap between the company and its existing consumers. This step will help the consumers to lodge their complaint and share their problems directly through face book and not waste time by coming to MSEDCL office again and again.
The company has promised prompt and good service.
