The Education Employ-ability gap is a condition in which the educational system cannot keep pace with the industry requirements and a gap is created between the two. This increases risks of unemployment as there are very few candidates who are considered employable. According to Kapil Sibal, Minister for Human Resource Development India, vocational training should be introduced to meet requirements of Industry. The problem is technology is changing everyday but the syllabus is remaining the same. Students pursue MBA, Engineering etc to get good high paying salary. They get more theoretical knowledge and less practical application. They don’t meet requirements of Company. The attitude and soft skills is not up to the mark.

Now the question is how to bridge the gap between education and employment ? First we need to change the syllabus to meet requirements of industry. The span of Industrial training should be increased so that a student can apply his/ her learning and experiment with new ideas. They can get a practical industry exposure while studying, understand their loop holes and work hard to polish their skills and knowledge.

Educational colleges can tie up with different industries so that they are aware of latest updates and can teach the same. Colleges can hire skilled and knowledgeable professionals from different backgrounds for imparting teaching on different subjects. This will increase practical knowledge of students. Institutes need to maintain a soft skills training department to improve communication and attitude of students. Soft skills will help them perform better at interviews and group discussion. The education and employment gap will bridge only when we take our first step and address the problem at the earliest before its too late.
