Indira Gandhi Government Medical College faces crunch of professors to look after OPD and Surgical cases in obstetric and gynecology department. They have got enough doctors according to Medical Council of India (MCI) norms but there is shortage due to heavy rush of patients for normal and cesarean deliveries.


Indira Gandhi Government Medical College faces crunch of professors to look after OPD and Surgical cases in obstetric and gynecology department. They have got enough doctors according to Medical Council of India (MCI) norms but there is shortage due to heavy rush of patients for normal and cesarean deliveries.

The professor has to teach at the college and also look after OPD and Surgery. This leads to absenteeism of professors due to heavy work load. They also leave and join private hospitals where pay package is better than at IGGMC. They need to work round the clock which makes the work tiresome.
