Khanan Meet held on 6th February 2013

Recently Khanan, the creative Bengali Journal of Vidharbha , organized a Poetry-Eve at Rajaram Sitaram Dixit Library of Dharamoeth, Nagpur on Wednesday, the 6th of February 2013.

The meet started with an open inaugural rendering ‘Mayabono Beharinee’ without any instrumental support by budding artiste Ankita Mitra. However, the main attraction of this poetry meet was release of two poem-books. Ranjit Acharya, the Publisher of Khanan greeted the countable size of assembled poem lovers of the city briefing the very attraction of this informal gathering.

Arindam Banerjee released the book ‘Achena Saikat’ written by Jayanta Kumar Bhattacharyya. Banerjee, the author of the English novel ‘The Sky’ , published last year in the city, opined on Jayanta’s poetic gesture and lauded his wise contribution in the realm of post modern Bengali poetry while speaking at large on the contemporary literature of the present time.

In the second phase of the meet, Jhinuk Chattopadhyay, the young and charismatic classical singer of Aamarathabango, released much-awaited “Aamar Sonnet” composed by Sukumar Choudhuri. To grace the post-150 years-of.legendary-Bengali-Sonnets era this offbeat collection of sonnets has been released for the first time in Vidharbha. Jhinuk recited Sukumar’s “Bulland Darwaza” from the book after its release.

To greet the poets Prathistha Sarkar, Bikas Roy, Kausik Chattopadhyay, Debjani Roy, Ranjit Acharya, Aparajita Mitra, Goutam Lala, and others presented their self-selected poems of Jayanta and Sukumar from their books, being released on the occasion.

The two-hour long poetical proceeding was concluded with the chorus Aakash bhora Surjyo Taara by the Khanan associates.
