Nagpur see 57% Lok Sabha polling on Thursday April 10th

Nagpur witnessed 57.30% voting. This is an improvement since 2009, where the total voting percentage was 43.

Nagpur’s literacy rate is 89%, one of the highest in country. Considering this fact, the voting percentage should have been much higher. Nagpur had 33 candidates in foray including 21 independent candidates.

Prominent candidates were BJP’s Nitin Gadkari, sitting Congress MP Vilas Muttemwar, Dr Mohan Gaikwad of Bahujan Samaj Party and state convenor of Aam Aadmi Party Anjali Damania.

Another important news about elections in Nagpur was the visit of British High Commissioner Sir James David Bevan. He was in Nagpur to witness the polling process in Naxal-hit Vidarbha region during the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.
