Nagpur’s Heritage steam locomotive to be unveiled

Nagpur’s Steam locomotive which once ran on Pulgaon-Arvi section, has been brought back to Nagpur railway station.

The Heritage steam locomotive was built in 1954 by Nasmyth Wilson & Co Ltd, England. The engine came to service in 1955.

This steam locomotive will be placed at the entrance of Nagpur Railway station. Mr. Subodh Jain, General Manager of Central Railway (CR) will be formally inaugurating it.

“As this steam locomotive is a sign of legacy of our past which is going to be appreciated by the young generation that’s why we have decided to keep it in open as viewed by everyone” added by Mr. A.K. Singh, PRO of CR headquarters, Mumbai

The steam engine has been renovated at Ajni depot using the parts from other old steam engines of the railways. Renovation cost was Rs 1.24 lakh

A special paint has been used to protect the locomotive from erosion.
