Indo Rama Synthetics (India) Limited (IRSIL) is planning to expand outside the city. According to Chairman OP Lohia, choosing Nagpur was a wrong choice as the company is not close to raw material industry and has no demand for its product in the local market. It will set up a pure terephthalic acid (PTA) manufacturing plant which is raw material for making polyester yarn produced in Butibori plant outside the city.

Now Indorama has to depend on other companies for PTA. After owning its own plant they will have regular supply of PTA. They also plan to set up plastic bottle making plant. PTA is the ingredient for manufacturing the bottles. OP Lohia is looking for land in Maharashtra and southern states near ports for saving cost of transportation of raw materials.
