Recently Khanan, the creative Bengali Journal of Nagpur, celebrated “Shuvo Nababarsho (1419)” at Himalaya Prestige Codomania, Gopal Nagar, Nagpur 440 022 on the eve of 13 April 2012.
The meet started with the release of Prantar a collection of 13 Selected Bengali Stories being translated in Marathi by veteran Marathi writer Sabita Ogiral. Neena Saha released the book published from MY Books Publication of Nagpur. The offbeat collection contains selected stories of Bonophool, Shaktipada Rajguru, Somen Chandra, Ashapurna Debi, Rajlukshmee Debee, Balaram Basak, Sukumar Choudhuri, Partho Chattopadhyay, Tapan Bandopadhyay. Maya Dhar, Bapi Chakraborty, Nibha De and Kaberi Basu Later, Sobita Ogiral and Ranjit Acharya read its preface and a translated short story of Sukumar Choudhuri titled Hriday .
In the second phase of the meet, Sabita Ogiral released much-awaited ‘Khanan Bulletin’. The bulletin, 78th of its kind, has been jointly compered by Tapas Saha and Arindam Ghosh. It carries a well researched analysis of Bengali Literature and its Culture by Tapas Saha, poems by Sukumar Choudhuri, Asimkumar Basu and Kausik Chattopadhyay, a remembrance of Khanan associate Late Tirthankar Basu by Arindam Ghosh and many creative write up besides its regular columns. Selective excerpts of the bulletin were read by Arindam Ghosh, Kausik Chattopadhyay, Supriya Bhaduri, Ranjit Acharya, Tapas Saha , Sukumar Choudhuri and other enthusiasts. A lively discussion followed on its witty presentation wherein Sharmila Chatterjee, Pitam Bhaduri, Neena Saha and others participated.
Later, Jayantakumar Bhattachareya presented his recent poem. Arindam Ghosh read his post modern story titled Boris Bekarer Chhobi from Khanan.
The four hour long literary meet was concluded with elaborate dinner comprising Bengali delicacies and mistimukh.
