According to a survey conducted by NMC’s electric department out of 93,511, as many as 8,166 streetlights were continuously out of order.
According to the survey, Asinagar and Lakadganj zones were the worst with around 10.55% of the streetlights there not working.
The figures for other zones are
Laxminagar- 8.67%
Dharampeth- 8.79%
Hanuman Nagar- 5.24%
Dhantoli- 7.71 %
Nehru Nagar- 8.71 %
Gandhibagh- 6.59%
Santranjipura- 8.23%
Mangalwari 7.14%

NMC executive engineer (electrical) Sanjay Jaiswal says that corporation required at least Rs 40 crore to improve streetlights in the city.
“We have prepared a proposal to avail loan but for this we require state government’s nod. A proposal has already been sent to the government,” he said.
