Gone are the days when people used donkeys to show their disagreement and protest by garlanding the donkey with chappal and face blackened, the state election commission (SEC) has banned these activities during victory rally or campaigning.
SEC Neela Satyanarayan has said usage of donkeys, cow, ox, elephant etc is inhuman and offence will be registered against those not abiding by law.
Eunuchs have been given a nod by the state election commission to take part in civic elections. They can stand in the election according to their gender list or in the open category.
SEC has denied any reservation to eunuchs. Nagpur Municipal Corporation officials declared the press release of SEC to citizens. According to the press release, eunuchs can stand in civic election in male category or open category. There will be no reservations for them.
Dr Milind Mane who had been fighting for eunuchs has welcomed the decision.
