International level training centre for disaster management to be set at Nagpur

Disaster Management training centre will be set up at Nagpur for the National Disaster Response Force. The centre will train workers of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Countries.

The centre will be set up by NDMA (Natural Diaster Management Authority) said M Shashidhar Reddy, Vice-Chairman, NDMA. The state government has given 100 acre land for it. Qualified trainers will give training on building collapses, water rescue operations and other emergencies.

Medical teachers take a mass leave on Monday

Medical teachers of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical college (IGGMC) went on mass leave on Monday. They will begin chain hunger strike from tuesday i.e 20th December 2011 and will continue till 24th December 2011.

Class teachings have been stopped and only emergencies are being attended by the doctors. Their demand include increasing nonpracticing allowance, payment of arrears of lecturers, issues related to promotion etc.
