Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) to recycle sewage water

PDKV has decided to set up a plant for treatment of sewage water passing through Nullah of MaharajBagh zoo and help the zoo authorities in solving their water problem. The water treatment unit will be installed with the help of NEERI and will start working from 26th January 2012.

Due to collapse of the old system for procuring water the zoo authorities were helpless but with the installation of recycle plant they will be able to meet their daily water demands at zoo premises.

Workers of the famous Maharajbagh zoo are on strike

Daily wages workers of Maharajbagh zoo have gone on indefinite strike leading to the collapse of all the services in the zoo. There is no one to feed animals or do regular cleaning of the cages or the surrounding areas. The zoo is littered with dirt and plastic bags. Few days back a campaign for removal of plastic bags was launched but now the situation is worse.

The daily wage workers are striking to get regularization of services which is yet to get sorted.

Plastic eradication Campaign at Maharajbagh Zoo

Panjabrao Krishi Vidyapeeth (PKV) and Shrishti Paryavaran Sanstha ( SPS) conducted a plastic free campaign at Maharajbagh zoo. The cleanliness drive was conducted both in the garden and zoo.

This drive is to eradicate use of plastic and stop polluting the environment as plastic cannot be decomposed and is hazardous to animals which swallow plastics and die.

Anyone found dumping plastic bags in Maharajbagh premises would be fined for Rs 100. This drive is also to teach the general public how much harm they are causing to the environment by using plastic bags.
