Gandhibagh park losing its glory

Gandhibagh park which was a great place to play for children and morning walkers is now in shambles as there is no one to care for the park. The park was constructed in the year 1997 and NMC gave its maintenance work to Lotus Cultural and Sporting Association. They were allowed to charge Rs 2 as entry fees from any citizen and Rs 10 from couples. But now there is no one to look after the park.

Long grasses have grown in the park, the swimming pool is full of garbage and the musical fountains are not working. There is no guard so theft of valuable equipments have taken place from the park. Furniture and playing equipments for children are broken. The park is a place of refreshment for residents of Itwari, Mahal, Gandhibagh, Mominpura and Satranjipura. In the absence of any maintenance there is drop in number of visitors to the park. It is also a place of shelter for the antisocial elements which is a matter of concern to the nearby residents.
