How will Devendra Fadnavis reply to his 3000 SMSes ?

Devendra Fadnavis has opposed the move of Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of India ( TRAI) move for putting restrictions on SMS sending to just 100 SMS per day. Fadnavis has appealed Kapil Sibbal, Union Telecommunication Minister to look in to the matter. He argued that the government is trying to curb the method of communication instead of curbing the people causing menace. Just because of a few handful of people committing crime the whole nation cannot suffer.

Devendra Fadnavis suggested solution to the problem by saying the rates for sending bulk SMS should be increased and fines should be imposed on person sending unwarranted SMSes.

Though TRAI has increased the limit to 200 SMS/ day on facing opposition from all quarters. Fadnavis argued that even the limit of 200 SMS/ day is not sufficient when lakhs of people need to be communicated regarding forth coming disaster.

He cited his own example to explain the severity of the situation. He told he has received 2000 SMSes on the day of Diwali and thousands more in the coming days. He was banned from sending SMS when he completed his slot of 3000 SMS. Now he needs to wait till the start of next billing cycle to reply to his remaining SMSes.
