The much-awaited and cheapest tablet has been launched. Aakash costs Rs 1700 (aprox )

The tabled is powered by Android 2.2 (Froyo), has a resistive touch screen, manufactured by DataWind, weighs 350 grams and has 256 MB of RAM.

The tablet also comes with a 12-month replacement warranty.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation failed Parking Plan

NMC has failed to sort out parking problems till 2011, though the move to solve the problem was taken in June 2007 by paying crores of rupees to L&T Consulting Engineers Ltd to prepare master plan for transport system of Nagpur City 2031.

Number of vehicles has increased so they need more space for parking. On failure to provide them space, vehicles are seen parked in No Parking zones. Heavily crowded places need parking space so that the roads are not cluttered with unevenly parked vehicles, and the vehicle owner not heavily charged.

Nagpur lawyers condemn Delhi blasts

Recent blast in New Delhi High Court have shaken the Nagpur lawyers who are even more concerned about security. The members of District Bar Association (DBA) resorted to peaceful agitation by refusing to work and sent back all their clients from Nagpur District court and Nagpur Session Court on Friday.

“We are demanding CCTV cameras, metal detectors and permanent police posts since many years but have not received any response. Police staffers deployed there are simply sitting with sticks. They don’t have arms for protection if someone attacks us,” said Sudeep Jaiswal – President of DBA

More than 8000 streetlights remain off

According to a survey conducted by NMC’s electric department out of 93,511, as many as 8,166 streetlights were continuously out of order.

According to the survey, Asinagar and Lakadganj zones were the worst with around 10.55% of the streetlights there not working.

Hanuman Nagar- 5.24%
Dhantoli- 7.71 %

SC directs Nagpur bench to rehear plea against 85 NU colleges

NAGPUR: The Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court will again have to hear the petition regarding alleged irregularities by Nagpur University officials while allowing students of nearly 85 colleges to appear for the annual exams (2006-07 and 2007-08 sessions) even as they failed to complete the norm of 180 mandatory teaching days in an academic year as per the Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994.

3 drunkard teachers, woman principal face suspension

NAGPUR: Chairperson of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Shantha Sinha has issued directives to the state education department to suspend three teachers working in a zilla parishad middle school at Yewati village in Amravati district for entering the premises in an inebriated condition on a regular basis. Directions were also issued by the chairperson to initiate action against the woman principal of Little Star Convent School in Mozari in the same district for brutally thrashing a class second girl student for not paying school fees in time.
