After putting a lot of unfruitful efforts into keeping stray animals away from Dr Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur Mihan India Limited (MIL) has finally decided to install solar fence on both sides of the run way. When stray animals like dog, pig, donkey, deer or rabbit will come in contact with the fence it will give a mild shock to fear the animal and even sound an alarm to help guards reach the place and drive them out.
Monkey menace at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport
Animals love airport runway and they frequently visit the runway. Pigs, deer, rabbits were already causing the menace on Nagpur airport, now the new addition is monkeys. A group of 70 monkeys moving on the runway of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport prevented landing of Mumbai-Nagpur-Kolkata flight on time and the flight had to be diverted to Hyderabad.
Mihan India Limited (MIL) has decided to appoint animal trappers. The security system used to scare animals is not fully functional.

Mihan India Limited (MIL) to employ animal trappers to guard run way of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport
After repeated incidents of animal menace finally Mihan India Limited has decided to employ animal trappers to avert any major accident caused by stray animals. Dogs, pigs, deers and rabbits are frequent visitors to the runway of airport. There are many incidents of animals killed during takeoffs and landing. Animals on runway can cause a major accidents if they are not stopped from visiting the runway.
MIL has taken the matter seriously and has welcomed offers in this regard.
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport runway damaged
Run way of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport has been damaged and needs resurfacing. Civil Aviation Secretary, Nasim Zaidi asked Mihan India Limited (MIL) to take care of all safety measures like resurfacing of 3200 metre long run way and movement of animals on the run way.
The work is delayed due to loss caused to the air port authority. Nasim Zaidi has advised Airports Authority of India (AAI) and MIL to hire a private partner to run the airport.
