Schools, colleges and other institutions will hoist National Flag , sing National Anthem and get patriotic. The whole nation will be immersed in Republic Day Celebration and get in holiday mood as it is a national holiday.

Nagpurpulse.com team wishes all Nagpurians a Happy Makar Sankranti. This is a day to get together and celebrate this auspicious day by eating til & gur. It is a day to fly colorful kites and unite with all our friends and relatives.

It is very cold at Nagpur but the spirit of nagpurians is quite warm. Haldiram Sweets is flooded with til laddus and other til sweets. Children are busy flying kites and you can hear “Woh Kaat” from every corner. City hawkers are attracting the seasons customer by selling kites and manja.

From 31st December 2011 the sun is hardly visible. It was raining on 31st night and nagpurians drenched themselves in rains while enjoying the new year party. On 1st January 2012 Nagpur experienced showers and it rained heavily in the night.

NMC is employing more than 8000 sweepers to keep the city clean, more than 400 small and big trucks to pick up garbage from our doorstep, street and chowk.

They are doing this everyday so that we nagpurians can enjoy the clean and green city and breathe fresh air.

Nagpur cops penalized for not wearing helmet

After the incidence of spot death in road accidents during 2012 Ankush Dhanvijay, Nagpur Police Chief has taken major steps to make wearing of helmets compulsory for cops first and then the citizens. He believes that first they need to follow the rules strictly then only they can compel the citizens to adhere to those rules.

On the 1st day of helmet drive 27 cops were booked for not wearing helmets. They were charged fine of Rs 100. The fine will be doubled on 2nd and consequent offences.
