LPG based Crematoria to save trees

LPG based crematoria to be employed at two ghats of Nagpur to save trees. Previously the ghats had diesel based crematoria which caused too much air pollution but now LPG will help check pollution. There are total 10 ghats at Nagpur and Nagpur Municipal Corporation is planning to convert all the Crematoria to LPG based. Now the facility is available only at Mokshadham and Ambazari Ghats.

Only 20% Nagpurians go for Cremation by Diesel or LPG while the rest prefer the traditional firewood cremation. The word needs to be spread to save trees and conserve forest.

Anti encroachment squad to get active on 30th March 2012

Demolition drive will be carried out by Nagpur Municipal Corporation on 30th March 2012. The encroachments on foot paths and illegal extensions on roads will be removed, illegal shops will also be demolished. It is a D-day for encroachers and a good news for pedestrians as the footpaths will be cleared and more space will be available for walking . This will also control Jaywalking and hence less accidents. After cases of accidents caused by Jaywalking finally NMC has woke up to clear foot paths for pedestrians.

Illegal pandals disrupting smooth flow of traffic

Illegal pandals that crop up in the city during festive seasons like Durga Puja, Ganesh Puja and Ram Navami disrupt the smooth flow of traffic and sometimes cause traffic jams. Anyone constructing arch or pandal on the road has to take permission from city police and NMC. But a lot of illegal pandals flock Nagpur city during festival and cause congestion on the roads. The city police is blaming NMC for not doing their work properly. The blame game is causing serious problems to people whose houses are situated near the arches or pandal as there is no smooth flow of traffic.

In a major step to keep the city clean and green Nagpur Municipal Corporation has come up with an innovative solution by lodging complaints through the website and providing fast service to people of Nagpur.

If your garbage is not collected SMS your name, Mobile number and address of bin and your will receive a confirmation from NMC regarding the registration of your complaint.

Nagpurians can Log in all garbage complaints on www.nmcgarbagecomplaint.com or SMS NMCGC (Your Complaint) on 54242.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation plans to make payments online

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has declared to go online for making payments. NMC needs to make payments to contractors and other people. It is planning to pay through ECS, RTGS and NEFT mode from 1st April 2012.

NMC has asked contractors to open up bank accounts as no excuses will be given attention and get loan from that only, Try www.loansly.co.uk. This move will make the payment paperless and hence ecofriendly.

Inferior quality of work on South Ambazari road, Nagpur

The tar work done on south Ambazari road came off completely within a few days after the completion of work. The tar patch between Bajaj Nagar and Subash Nagar T- point came off completely which is creating problems to the smooth flow of traffic. Nagpur Municipal Corporation officials are blaming the contractor for doing poor quality work and asked them to redo it again. This inferior quality of work speaks of official negligence as no senior and junior engineers were present on site at the time of work.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation to recover outstanding bill from consumers by the end of March

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is set to recover water arrears before the end of the financial year. NMC is taking every measure to recover the bill. It has warned consumers to at least pay 50 % of the bill or face disconnection of water supply. The payment counter will remain open from 9 AM – 3 PM everyday i.e 7 days a week, even on holidays.

Orange City Water Limited (OCWL) has started a 24-hour toll free number (1800-266-9899) to attend to complaints related to water supply and bills.

High Court puts stay order on construction of hospital at Dhantoli

Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court has put a stay order on the construction of Nagpur Neuro Sciences Clinics Private Limited of Dr Chandrashekhar Pakhmode. The plot on which the construction of hospital was being done was a residential plot and so no commercial activity could be carried out there.

A notice has been issues to Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and a reply is awaited from them in two weeks.
